Wells Fargo & Co.'s Express Directory of Chinese Houses, San Francisco, Sacramento, Stockton, Marysville, San Jose, Portland, Virginia City, 1878. Well used and worn. Pages throughout have Chinese notes, including all fly pages. Some pages with adhered clips and coverages. Definitely a piece worthy of a formal translation throughout. This piece was clearly used daily, and of great importance to its owner. An oval rubber stamp inside the front cover may say "Chung Kee", which was a clothing firm in San Francisco listed in the directory at 611 Dupont Street, lending added provenance to this important historical piece.
