Description
STAFFORDSHIRE TRANSFERWARE ARTICLES, LOT OF THREE, dark blue on white, comprising a Milking Time/Thatched Cottage soup bowl, and a Night Fishing at Newark Mill plate, each with impressed mark, first with crown, the other with an eagle; and an unmarked plate with fruit and two birds on a table in a central medallion with a floral border. First two William Adams & Co., England. First half 19th century. Soup 10" D, plates 8 3/4" D.
Literature: David A. Furniss et al. - Adams Ceramics / Staffordshire Potters and Pots, 1779-1998, first p. 93, bottom right, second p. 98, bottom left.
Condition
Each with moderate to significant surface wear and stilt marks, Adams plate with a manufacturing flaw to lower left, unmarked plate with a rim flake.
