Description
Sam Maloof (American, 1916-2009), 1993. Walnut rocker with ebony accents. Signed to underside, No 1, 1993, Sam Maloof, FACC, ©. Note: Similar rocking chairs by Sam Maloof in permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the White House Collection of American Crafts, and The Smithsonian American Art Museum. Approx. 46", w. 26.875", d. 45.375 (feet).
Condition
Structurally sound. Few small thin white residue spots to surface that can likely be removed. Small minute dings to blade edges, specifically to arms and seat from use. Small 2mm chip on top left wing. Small chip on left arm near hand rest. Small chip to front left corner on rocker leg. Few raised edges at joints. Back slats appear stable. Rocker legs appear to be in good condition. No apparent dryness cracks or separation. Would benefit from conditioning.
