Sicily. Syracuse, ca. 405-395 BC and later(?). AR Dekadrachm, (41.92g), unsigned dies in the style of the artist Euainetos.
Gallatin XXI/JII; BMC 175.
Obverse: Charioteer holding kentron and reins, driving fast quadriga left; Nike flying above, crowning him; in exergue, panoply of arms. Reverse: Head of Arethusa facing left with dolphins around; pellet before throat. Abt. Very Fine; reverse encrustated; choice style of Euainetos; impressive specimen. Quite scarce.
