Description
This pretty painting is by artist George Henry Melcher (1881-1957). It appears to be of one of his favorite subjects, Topanga Canyon.
Signed with last name only, lower left. Approx. 6" x 10".

Melcher started drawing at a young age, then studied painting under a private teacher. He began selling cartoons to two New York based publications at the age of 15. After attending a couple fine arts schools, he moved to California 1905 for health reasons, then homesteading in Santa Monica in 1907 where he focused his creativity on the mountainsides of Topanga Canyon.
