Description
These pretty paintings are by artist George Henry Melcher (1881-1957). These paintings appear to be a similar view and look like two different seasons. Both are signed with last name only, lower left. Both approx. 6" x 10". NIce inscriptions on the verso in pencil to receiver of the paintins, along with other notes about the painting.
Melcher started drawing at a young age, then studied painting under a private teacher. He began selling cartoons to two New York based publications at the age of 15. After attending a couple fine arts schools, he moved to California 1905 for health reasons, then homesteading in Santa Monica in 1907 where he focused his creativity on the mountainsides of Topanga Canyon.
