Folio, [36 (including portrait frontispiece)], 660, [22], edited by Thomas Speight, third Speight edition, double column, black letter, engraved frontispiece incorporating portrait of Chaucer after John Speed, large woodcut on verso of 'd1', 7 line cancel slip pasted over bottom right-hand stanza on p. 42, leaf c1 mis-signed as 'd' and mis-bound, contemporary calf, rebacked retaining original spine, corners repaired, slightly rubbed, bookplates of George Cockburn and General J.G. Clay K.C. reaffixed to twentieth century endpapers, [ESTC R3920; Wing C3736], a little light spotting to a few leaves, a few light marginal pencil words (from 'The hard words of Chaucer explained' at end) or light pencil scoring
