Item Details
Description
This is a very special 18/19 Century Jadite Buddha. Purchased from a wealthy estate in Atherton California in the early 1980s this was the first expensive Buddha I managed to purchase for my Buddha collection, almost 40 years ago. I was struck by the way the almost apple green bolt of jade was carefully arranged into so right in the middle of his forehead, almost like a ray of enlightenment. The carving is very fin. Based on showing this to a number of experts in Chinese jade, I believe it is an authentic Ching jade carving. This is further evidenced by the very thin lip to the base that he sits on, and the very slight ripple in the surface. Of great importance is his face. He has an especially well carved and sculpted face- it is a bit hard to see because of the reflections of the surface, but the face is absolutely first-rate. Spend time looking at the photos.
