Description
Henry Slocum was a Major General in the union army. He was a commander at Gettysburg and was with General Sherman on his march through the South at the end of the war. We offer a letter written during the war, Headquarters, 1st Division & Corps, August 12, 1862 written to Maj General W. Hillbourn, Albany, New York. Slocum endorses R. P. Wilson for a promotion for "…one of the new regiments of our state." In a 25"x19.5" famed with engraved portrait.
