*Carl Perkins owned and played Microfrets guitar
This unusually rare Carl Perkins Microfrets Calibre 1 model, serial number 2372 was displayed at the Smithsonian Natural Museum of American History 'Rock 'n' Soul: Social Crossroads' exhibition along with Scotty Moore's Gibson L5. Perkins can be seen playing this guitar with Johnny Cash (see illustration). This guitar has Carl Perkins inlaid distinctively in pearl on the fret board. A luthier has remarked that the inlay is of the highest quality that he has ever seen in mother of pearl.
