Item Details

Description

Mystery Artist (English, Middle 19th Century). An original oil painting on canvas. Titled, "Portrait of Tom Sayers, The Pugilist," produced circa 1860. A portrait of bare-knuckle prize fighter Tom Sayers (1826-1865), English heavyweight champion from 1857 to 1860. Painted in the Realistic style of the 19th Century English School, circa 1860. No apparent signature. Retains paper catalog tag with work information and affixed to verso. Presented in an ornate gilt wood frame.

Work Size: 36 x 28 in.

Dimensions: 41.75 X 33.5 X 2.5 in.

Condition: Good overall condition having mild surface wear. Moderate storage wear to frame. Estate fresh to the market.
