Vincent Van Gogh drawing on paper (In the style of): Vase with red poppies, 1886.........Measures: 21 x 29.5 cms…….. This item will sell as "in the style of". "In the style of" works points out an influence of the style of the named master artist, but with the connotation that the named creator had little or nothing to do with the actual work at hand. (Source: Cataloging Cultural Objects,2006)…………………………… This work by Vincent van Gogh represents one of the artist's favorite subjects. Flowers were the subject of many of van Gogh's paintings in Paris and one of his many interests and fascinations. Vincent van Gogh made this painting of red poppies in Paris in 1886, where his friends sent bouquets weekly for his still lifes. Van Gogh also bought bouquets choosing flowers in a variety of colors for his paintings. In a letter to her sister Wil, she wrote: "Last year, I painted almost nothing but flowers so I could get used to colors other than grey: pink, soft or bright green, light blue, violet, yellow, glorious red."
