World War I Poster Gerrit A Beneker World War One This is a World War I poster by Gerrit A. Beneker. WWI posters were made by a Lithograph. This is looking to be a real poster from WWI, these posters were first produced in 1918. The poster shows a man in a hat and overalls reaching into his pocket; he wears buttons from previous Liberty Loan campaigns. The poster reads "Sure! We'll finish the job Victory Liberty Loan". This poster is in good condition and is backed with a canvas-like material, it is curled due to it being rolled up during storage. Commercial color lithograph Approx: the poster itself: 37 3/4in long by 26in wide Backing of poster: 42in long by 30 1/4in wide Weight: 1.7lbs History: Gerrit A Beneker was an American painter and illustrator best known for his paintings of industrial scenes and for his poster work in World War I. In July 1918, Beneker was hired, under the title of "Expert Aid, Navy Department", to create posters and illustrations for the war effort. It was in this period that he painted his most familiar work, "Sure We'll Finish the Job", which sold over three million copies
