Item Details

Description

American School oil on canvas painting depicting a fire brigade, pulled by horses, moving through a crowded city street toward rising smoke and flames. Unsigned. Inscribed "Stevenson" en verso on frame. Housed in a giltwood frame with c-scroll decoration. Sight: 10 1/2" H x 14 1/2" W. Framed: 15" H x 19" W. Early 20th Century.

Condition

Heavy craquelure causing paint loss in lower and upper right-hand corner. Three areas of repair with inpainting in lower left-hand corner, lower center, and right-center, largest 1". Very light wear to frame.
