Description
West Mexico shaft tomb peoples, Ca 250 BC to 300 AD. A red ware Nayarit Chinesca type seated male with heart shape head, he holds a bowl atop left shoulder. Overall burnished and decorated with red pigment. Dimensions: approx 7-1/2" H. Provenance: Ancient Resources, LLC, 2011 along with a Colima seated male dwarf with hands resting on his hips. He is adorned with a simple headband and has an expressive face. Used in a funerary context for ancestor veneration. Dimensions: approx 8" H. Provenance: Ancient Resource Auctions, 2014 acquired by Dr. Henry Cherrick.Cherrick, a professor and dean at UCLA School of dentistry pioneered government programs promoting dental care in HIV/AIDs patients.
