Lot 4000
Chippewa Fish and Frog Spear. In the late 1880's-1890's, the "Glen Sheen" mansion was built just North of Duluth, Minn. It's large estate was surrounded by a wrought iron fence with spear point finials. The Lake Superior Chippewa were stealing all the finials to make fishing and frogging spears to trade. The mansion owners soon realized this problem and had all the iron finials replaced with ball ends. This spear survived and was housed in a large Lake Mille Lac collection. 39 1/2" L.
