attributed to Roanoke River Basin, 1720-1740, walnut throughout, broad top with mitered battens, frame with a single drawer, on finely turned legs and stretchers, 26-1/4 x 51-1/2 x 35 in.

Note: This fine table was displayed in the second room at MESDA for over 40 years. It is illustrated in Bivens, The Furniture of Coastal North Carolina, 1700 to 1820, page 12 and is documented in the MESDA research files. One other table from this rare group is known to survive. Pictured on display in the Pocomoke House Interior, Somerset County, Maryland room at MESDA in book titled Bivens and Alexander The Regional Arts of the Early South, page 15.
