An early work by important Canadian artist, in original period frame.Painted 1950. Gallery label on verso.Gary Peter Slipper is a painter who was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts, Alberta (1948); the Vancouver School of Art, B.C. (1950); the American Academy of Art, Chicago (1951 - 1952); the Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Madrid (1953) and in Florence, Italy (1954).He has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows starting in 1958 to present; including the Montreal Museum Of Fine Arts in 1963. He was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy in 1977.His works are in many private, corporate and public collections. The public collections include the National Gallery of Canada, the Vancouver Art Gallery, Loyola University (Montreal), the Agnes Etherington Art Centre (Queen's University, Kingston), the Confederation Art Gallery & Museum (Charlottetown, P.E.I.), the Windsor Art Gallery (Ontario), and the McCord Museum (Montreal).
