19th Century French Sterling Silver & Crystal Pitcher By Tetard Freres. 14"X9"X7".Founded in 1880 by Edmond Tetard (1860-1901), the firm initially specialized in Louis XV-style tableware. Edmond’s success peaked in 1889 when he won the gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. After Edmond’s death in 1901, his sons George, Henri, and Jacques took over, renaming the business Tétard Frères.The firm underwent a significant transformation in the early 1920s with the arrival of Valery Bizouard (1875-1945) as the principal designer. Bizouard introduced innovative Art Deco patterns and models, marking a new era for the company.In 1930, Jean, Henri’s son, joined Bizouard in leading the firm. Their collaboration propelled Tétard Frères to the forefront of French Art Deco silver design, culminating in a remarkable success at the 1931 International Exhibition, where they won 10 medals.Specializing in tableware, Tétard Frères redefined modern and geometric designs, becoming an international icon alongside Christofle during the interwar period.
