Description
Vintage large Still from the silent film "Salome" (1918, director J. Gordon Edwards). Salome (Theda Bara) looks up, a garland headband with pearls hanging from her hair. Vintage silver photo print with some visible silvering, probably 1970s-80s.
Large photo; 10.3/4" x 14" [27.3cm x 35.6cm] including the blank margins which are are 3/4" to 1/4"; glossy paper, attached to the heavier paper, some nice silvering (silver oxidation): yellowish staining and metallic mirroring at the edges and in the middle, very good condition.
Silvering' on the photo, the silver oxidation of the silver-based emulsion is characterized by a yellowing and sometimes silver mirroring along the lines of contrast between high and low lighting and can appear partially or cover the whole image.
Theda Bara (1885-1955) was an American silent film and stage actress. Bara was one of the more popular actresses of the silent era and one of cinema's early sex symbols. Her femme fatale roles earned her the nickname "The Vamp", later fueling the rising popularity in "vamp" roles based in exoticism and sexual domination.Artwork will be mailed unframed.
