About the artist: Although artist Chuck Wood painted primarily for his own satisfaction, he gained increasing success and recognition for his work throughout the art world, among critics, fellow artists and art lovers. Born in Cannonsburg, PA, Wood was raised in Chicago and attended the Art Instute of Chicago. Inspired by Andrew Wyeth and local illustrator Lyman Simson. Three of Wood's pieces hang in the Vincent Price Collection and many private collections across the country. Many pieces have been displayed in prominant Chicago Shows and competions. The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, OH. staged a show of his work titled Chuck Wood --50 Years of the Real, one of the paintings "Oaxaca Window" was listed at $ 20,000. He was also featured by CBS for a series dedicated to the arts in Chicago. Wood owed a successful Commercial Photographic Co. and was an avid antique and nostalgia collector.
