"The Scene Reports On Post-Modern Art" by Calvin Tomkins, published by Viking Press, 1976. First Edition.

Original dust jacket with un-clipped price on the front flap [wear, soiling, small damages: see photos]; hard boards, white cloth spine [some foxing]; black lettering on spine, 6.1/4" x 9.1/4"; red endpapers, 272 pages, several b/w illustrations, very good condition.

The book consists of eight essays about New York art scene in the 1960- early 1970s. Seven of the essays appeared previously in the New Yorker. Contents: powerful curator Henry Geldzahler, Andy Warhol, print impresario Tatyana Grosman, the art-and?technology movement, underground cineast Jonas Mekas, earthworks, video artist Nam June Paik and the spectacular slow?motion theater of Robert Wilson.
