LARGE CHINESE KANGXI (1662–1722) FAMILLE VERTE PORCELAIN CHARGER WITH BIRDS AND BLOOMS

Featuring a vibrant central scene of two birds flying over or perched on flowering branches amid lush peony blooms. The design is finely painted in a palette of iron red, green, yellow, blue, and black enamels on a soft white glaze. The broad cavetto is decorated with scattered blossoms, while the rim features alternating cartouches of peony blooms and green diaper patterns on a foliate ground. The back is similarly adorned with floral sprays and bears a double-ring mark in underglaze blue. A classic representation of Kangxi decorative porcelain. Ideal for wall display or a focal point in an Asian art setting; its vivid color and lyrical composition make it highly decorative. The rim remains in exceptional condition aside from a couple of fleabite frits—an impressive state of preservation rarely found in Kangxi-period porcelain of this size and age. Observed condition details include two hairlines, a small chip to the back of the rim, kiln-related glaze imperfections on the footring, and general glaze wear with surface abrasions, all consistent with age and use.
