PAIR OF FRAMED ANTIQUE CHINESE PORCELAIN PANELS

Late 19th / early 20th century, each set within a hardwood frame and accented with finely carved and gilded wood inserts, the porcelain plaques depict serene landscape scenes in famille rose enamel, with figures engaging in leisurely daily activities against a backdrop of pavilions, trees, and distant hills. Elegant calligraphy inscriptions with red seals embellish the upper sections of the panels. Above and below each porcelain insert are elaborately carved and gilded wood panels: the upper carvings feature figures amidst lush foliage, while the lower sections depict precious objects ("hundred antiques" theme) symbolizing prosperity and scholarly pursuits. Perfect for enhancing refined interiors, Asian art galleries, or private collections. The porcelain panels are in good antique condition with minor firing imperfections and surface wear consistent with age. The carved giltwood sections show expected wear, the wood frames present an aged patina, scattered minor scratches, and small separation lines typical of antique hardwood construction.
