Tarcisio Tosin 1930s La Freccia Italian Pottery Art Deco Ceramic Wall Mask

Item Details
Description
Ca. first half 20thC. Signed on back as shown. Very good age-appropriate condition, with no cracks or repairs, with one nick on the flower. Signed with the La Freccia di Tarcisio Tosin arrows mark. This type of mask was popularized in Italy by Lenci, and was influenced by ceramic artists of the secessionist movement in Vienna. This is a rare form for Tarcisipo Tosin.
In 1928 Tosin moved to Vicenza where he took over the management of the "Fratelli Brotto" ceramic factory, which he took over in 1932 and gave it the name "La Freccia". The new brand is represented by an arrow, drawn vertically, on the sides of which appear the initials FS imposed for a commercial agreement by the retailer Faone Scardin. In the same years he also dedicated himself to teaching as a teacher of applied ceramics at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vicenza.
