(A) JOHN HART'S "LONE RANGER" COLT SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER

Documented antique Colt Single Action. John Hart is best remembered as Clayton Moore's Lone Ranger replacement. Clayton left the role in 1952 and it was John Hart who replaced him for the next 52 episodes. Gun should be easy to spot if one has access to these Lone Ranger episodes. Hart also appeared on several other western themed television projects such as Rawhide, Bat Masterson as well as over 30 other television shows. There is a letter testifying that this old Colt was purchased off set from some old cowboy by Hart but does not state that he used it in that role, just that it was used in several westerns. The factory letter states that this gun was originally shipped on July 31, 1897 as a 5 1/2, 45 caliber blue gun with rubber grips that was sent to Salem G. LeValley of Buffalo. This antique single action features the one line barrel address and the two line Colt barrel address. The grips have been switched at one time with bone. Serial numbers are matching. This is a transition gun in that it wears the smokeless frame with side pin. Finish was blue and case color. CONDITION: Very good. Basically a clean gun metal grey with dulling blue on cylinder. Grips are a bit shy at toe and heel. Cylinder indexes with proper half cock for loading. Bore is well defined but has some abrasion and frosting. All legends are sharp. Great old Hollywood documented Colt. Gun is accompanied by numerous documents and letters.
