Sascha Brastoff was an American artist and designer known for his flamboyant personality and eclectic mid-century modern style. After serving in the U. S. Army during World War II, he rose to fame in the 1950s and '60s with his Los Angeles-based studio, which attracted Hollywood clientele. His work spanned ceramics, sculpture, and design, but he is especially celebrated for his mosaic pottery that featured bold, abstract designs and vibrant colors. These pieces often combined glazed ceramics with embedded glass or tile-like elements, creating a dynamic, textured surface. Brastoff died in 1993, but his mosaic pottery remains highly collectible and admired for its artistic innovation and representation of postwar American design. A Wisconsin Collection
