He studied under Yousuf Karsh, a world-famous portrait photographer, and John Sexton, a noted landscape photographer who worked with Ansel Adams. Rogers' photography became a passion, and he documented his travels and the people he met, particularly during his concert tours across North America.

John Sexton's Guidance: Sexton taught Rogers the importance of photographing what you love and loving what you photograph.
