Description
This engraved map titled Die Preussischen Provinzen Preussen und Posen shows the detailed administrative structure of the northeastern provinces of the German Empire, with colored boundaries marking Prussia and Posen. It was published in 1879 by Justus Perthes in Gotha as part of the renowned Stieler’s Hand-Atlas, a benchmark in 19th-century cartography for its precision and clarity. Carl Vögel (1835–1900) was a respected German cartographer who contributed to several important atlases of the period. His work reflects the rigorous scientific approach of the Gotha cartographic tradition, which shaped geographic scholarship in Europe throughout the 19th century. Dimensions: 38 cm x 48 cm.
