Description
A large and ornate bronze and enamel planter produced by the firm of Ignáce Fischer of Budapest, Hungary in the last half of the 19th century. The ceramic body is of a square form which tapers from top to bottom and is painted with colorful floral patterning across its entire surface. The body is held within an extremely intricate bronze frame with pierced and molded foliate designs along the rim and base as well as two large and intimidating gryphon figures as the handles, with the whole piece sat atop four beast's paws.
