Saline River
1945
This block print, signed by the artist in pencil lower right, and titled Saline River lower left, was issued in two states: the first state of 100 prints was titled Republican River. In this second state, or edition, portions of the block were carved away before printing, resulting in more white space in the sky of this version, primarily the right hand side of the sky area. Greenough number 89.

Provenance: Acquired directly from Birger Sandzen by Adolph Pearson, a first-generation Swede and friend of the artist active in the Swedish communities of Kansas City and Lindsborg.
