Item Details
Description

Circa 1915

The domed shade in translucent amber colored glass cased with an opaque white glass lining, engraved on the fitter rim L.C.T.; the urn form base raised on incurved legs and ending in a stepped incurved square foot, numbered on the underside 2397. Height 14 5/8 inches; height of shade 4 1/2 inches, diameter 7 1/8 inches.

Provenance:

James D. Julia, Fairfield, Maine, Lamps & Glass, November 18, 2015, lot 1221.

Shade: has a nice bell tone when gently struck, i.e., no hairline cracks; there is a small shallow chip loss to the fitter rim, which is somewhat sharp to the touch and is somewhat visible because there is no metal cap to cover it (the chip loss is mostly visible on the underside of the rim)

Base: the socket and light switch appear to be later replacements; the lamp is currently wired, however, the switch, socket and wiring were not tested; the lamp has a nice uniform mottled chocolate brown and dark rust-colored patina; the shade fits onto the three-arm supports without risk of falling off, however, the shade sits on the supports somewhat loosely (not a tight fit)
