Heinie Hartwig, is primarily a western painter with a romantic sensibility, but also explores landscape and still life. Growing up in California and spending three years in Europe with the Army, including witnessing the rise of the Berlin Wall and persuading his East German wife, Eva, to marry him shaped his perspective. A self-taught artist who studied the Old Masters, Hartwig's work, recognized in "Who's Who in American Art" by 1991, echoes Bierstadt and Constable in its romanticism and composition. His dedication to "Old World" colour formulas has garnered numerous awards, including the Triton Museum Competition, and his paintings are held in institutions like Brigham Young University and are sought after by international collectors.
