Description

Los Castillo toucan-form silverplate pitcher featuring a fluted baluster body and a sculptural hinged lid. The handle is crafted as a detailed figural toucan with a brass and copper beak, inlaid dark onyx or obsidian body, and nacre chest. A striking example of mid-20th century Mexican artisan metalwork combining form and function. Stamped on the underside: LOS CASTILLO TAXCO MEXICO with additional hallmarks and a design number.

Condition: Good to fair overall condition with surface wear and patina consistent with age. Evidence of an older restoration is visible on the bird's head.
