Description
AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE WALNUT ARMCHAIR, the shaped crest rail over a pierced vasiform splat, shaped arms, and a trapezoidal seat frame, the whole raised on square molded legs with a chamfered inner edge. Retains and old finished surface and an old, possibly original, chestnut seat frame covered in a contemporary upholstery campaign. Probably converted from a necessary chair. Late 18th/early 19th century. 40 1/2" HOA, 18" H seat, 16 1/2" x 22" OA,

Condition
Good condition overall with moderate scattered surface wear, the splat with a crack near the center; each leg with the cut-off end of a mortised section beneath the seat rails where the rail which covered the chamber pot once attached; the whole with scattered moderate to minor expected usage wear.
