Item Details
Description
An important Southern julep cup by William L. Campbell of Winchester, Virgina. Notable personalized name engraving of Jacob Van Meter. "Jacob Van Meter INV" to center. Twice marked Campbell to underside. A teapot in the Virginia Museum of History and Culture and a waste bowl at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley bear the same hallmark. Circa 1815 or most likely earlier. The Van Meter family played a significant role as early settlers in various areas perhaps most notably in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and Elizabethtown Kentucky.
