Description
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately two-gallon capacity, ovoid form with short slightly flaring collar and flat-top rim, tooled neck and foot, and open horizontal loop handles. Incised flower with bold bloom and cobalt infill, additional cobalt to handle terminals. Probably Crolius family or Thomas Commeraw, Coerlears Hook, Manhattan, NY. Late 18th/early 19th century. 12 1/2" H, 9 1/8" D rim.

Provenance:
Recently discovered in a thrift store in North Carolina.
Condition
Excellent condition, rim having some scattered shallow chips including one approximately 1" W and a few minor shallow chips to foot.
