Description
SHAKER DIMINUTIVE PAINTED STAVE-TYPE BERRY BASKET, the bent sheet-iron rim joins a number of bent and shaped staves which connect at a platform base with a central hole and a sheet-iron band around the outside to join all the pieces together. Retains the likely original ochre / marigold painted surface with remnants of black paint on the metal rim and foot. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. 3 7/8" HOA, 4 3/8" D rim.

Condition
Good condition overall, several staves with some expected shrinkage cracking and separation, two of those with minor losses at the bottom which coincide with the shrinkage; moderate to minor wear to the painted surface, mostly to the black of the rim.
