Description
After Charles Cressent, Louis XV kingwood and tulipwood, gilt bronze bureau plat, late 19th/early 20th century, the rectangular gilt-tooled leather-inset top with moulded surround and rocaille clasps to the corners, above a frieze fronted by three drawers, with three simulated drawers to the reverse, the sides centered by cherub masks, on cabriole legs headed by espagnolettes and terminating in acanthus-wrapped paw sabots, veneered on pine and oak, center drawer stamped, with paper retailers label 'Georg Kofoed's Mobeletablissement', and inset plaque "Prevost Rue St. Antoine 195". [32.5" H x 80" W x 38" D, Height to apron: 21"]. Overall condition is good, with minor wear to top, 1 lock deficient. Ref: National Gallery of Art; Musee du Louvre.
