Item Details
Description
Cecil B. DeMille Pair of George Eastman Awards. Vintage pair of awards featuring a (4" in diameter) medal cast in bronze and presented in a block of clear epoxy on a wood base measuring 6.5" x 4.5" x 7.75". Established by the George Eastman Museum, these awards were presented to DeMille in 1955 and 1957 (the first two years the honor was handed out). The 1955 award ceremony was focused on artists from the early years of silent film (1915- 1925), while the following award ceremony was devoted to artists from the final years of the silent film era (1926-1930). DeMille was celebrated for his myriad achievements on both years. The early awards were called the "Festival of Film Artists Medal of Honor" with a profile of Eastman on the front – and a description of the contribution along with the recipient's name and date on the back. Both of these awards were displayed upon DeMille's crowded awards mantle in his office. Awards exhibit storage wear and paint chipping/scuffing on wood base. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
