This original oil on canvas by Al Black features a sunset scene with a boat and dock on the waterway. The boat is an uncommon subject in a painting by the highwaymen, as they usually just focused on the landscape and birds.

Al Black (b.1941), was born in Jackson, Mississippi and moved to Fort Pierce as a teenager. It was here that he met Alfred hair and the rest of the Florida Highwaymen. Black started out as a salesman for the other painters but eventually took up painting himself and continued to paint until he passed away in May of 2025.
