Lot 0004
We are pleased to offer this first item from our fine quality estate containing a number of hand painted German & Limoges porcelain items. This lot showcases an absolutely stunning antique White Ware celery dish blank by Heinrich & Co. of Selb, Bavaria, Germany, finished in a Scarce gorgeous luster exterior. This dish couples a gorgeous pink tea rose theme with tasteful sprays, and is hand signed by American professional artist, A.M. Our form is a classic broad waisted celery, and it is in excellent condition, without cracks, chips or nicks. The Heinrich green under glaze White ware mark, was only used in 1911 (the first of two crown marks that year), and can be found on Page #156 of Rontgen. Franz Heinrich Porcelain was founded in 1896 in Selb, Bavaria, Germany by Franz Heinrich (porcelain director) to decorate German White wares. By 1900, the firm began to produce its own porcelain & the name became Heinrich & Co. and continued until 1929, when it was purchased by Graf & Krippner in Selb. The name Heinrich Porzellan GMBH was adopted in 1970, and in 1976, became a subsidiary of Villeroy & Boch in Mettlach, Saarland, Germany. Most of our Bohemian / Bavarian qualifications including manufacturers identification, pricing and dating are accomplished by using the following outstanding references: Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain 1710 to the Present / by Robert Rontgen; Directory of European Porcelain / by Ludwig Danckert; Bohemian Decorated Porcelain / by Dr. James D Henderson; Marks & Monograms on European and Oriental Pottery & Porcelain (14th Revised Edition) / by Wm.
