Description
It does not get any better than this bowl cut in nearly every motif imaginable! The pattern is anchored by a center triangular panel of triple miter trellis. Surrounding that anchor are pairs of linked medallions - almost looking like a cassette unravelling. One panel features a perfectly symmetrical rendition of double mitre trellis while the other medallion features a star formation surrounded in hobnail. Between each medallion is the tiniest Russian cutting. The edge of the bowl has fans of 3 panels - 2 in a crosscut motif and one of cane. Really this is one of the most impressive designs from the period and one that I attribute to J. Hoare.
