BIOGRAPHY:
Yuri Konstantinovich Levinovsky (June 28, 1933, Middle Volga region, USSR - October 2, 2008, Moscow) - Russian Soviet artist, graphic artist, author of more than 80 postal payment signs, over 200 postal envelopes. Yuri Levinovsky was born in the Middle Volga region. In his youth, he was involved in sports. He was the champion of the Chkalovsk region in track and field. After finishing school, he entered the Moscow Institute of Physical Education. However, Levinovsky's sports career did not work out. Therefore, after graduating from the Institute of Physical Education, Yuri Konstantinovich entered the graphics department of the Moscow Printing Institute. Not having graduated from the institute for personal reasons, Levinovsky got a job as an artist-designer at VDNKh, and after some time he moved to work at DIEZPO. The first postage stamp based on his drawing was issued in 1965 on the occasion of the IX All-Union Spartakiad of schoolchildren. By 1975, he had created about 80 postage stamps, more than two hundred stamped postal envelopes, and a large number of illustrated greeting cards. At the competition of the USSR Ministry of Communications and the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1975, he received second prize for creating original postage stamps on the theme "30th Anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet People in the Great Patriotic War". The last miniature created by the artist was a Russian postage stamp dedicated to the Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg in 1994. Levinovsky died in 2008 in Moscow.
