Follower of Nicolas Lancret (French, 1690-1743), "After Luncheon Card Game," oil on canvas, unsigned, presented in a giltwood frame, H.- 32 in., W.- 37 1/2 in., Framed- H.- 38 3/4 in., W.- 44 1/4 in. Provenance: Property from the Estate of Murphy A. Bourke, New Orleans, Louisiana.

The painting exhibits past signs of professional restoration. It has been cut and relined with taped edges. The painting is loose in its frame. There is abrading to the lower edge and upper left corner, some of which is due to friction with the frame. There are a few tiny flake losses and craquelure with horizontal crack across much of the There is notable surface soiling and yellowing to the varnish. Under UV light, foxing (surface soiling) is present. There is inpainting to the lower left, abrading and light inpainting to the left and top edge. There is inpainting to the right center behind the far right figure and a few scattered spots in the sky. The figures are intact, and retain excellent colors beneath the soiling that could be easily restored with a professional cleaning. Condition is commensurate with age, material and use.
