BIOGRAPHY:
Jan Jacobus Matthijs Damschroder was born in Amsterdam in 1825 during a period in the Mid-19th Century, which held figure and history painting in high regard. He also specialized in painting scenes from Dutch history and narrative interios with figures. In particular, his works with children were very popular. He died in Velzen in 1905. Also known as Damschreuder or Damschroeder.
