BIOGRAPHY:
Ignacio Guibert Amor (Pamplona, 1916 - September 6, 1992, Madrid) was a Navarrese painter dedicated to painting landscapes, mainly marine, floral and rural environments. His intention was precious and decorative. Along with artists such as Crispin Martinez, Gerardo Sacristan, Antonio Cabases, Emilio Sanchez Cayuela "Gutxi", Pedro Lozano de Sotes and Francis Bartolozzi, he is part of the first generation of contemporary painters from Navarre and Spain, who developed their artistic work in a period of openness to the modernization of Spanish painting, coexisting on the one hand with traditional trends and on the other, the most innovative trends, arriving from Europe through Bilbao and Barcelona. He was born in Pamplona in 1916. His parents were Mercedes Amor and Joaquin Guibert, and his siblings Joaquin and Maria Jesus Guibert. His work with looms led him to move to Madrid in 1940, where he began to study painting at the Academia Pena, with Eduardo Pena, while attending free classes at the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, where he practiced nude painting. There he married Mercedes Iglesias Andres, with whom he started a family. During that time he also worked as an illustrator for several books, such as "Silhouettes of Contemporary Writers" by Cesar Gonzalez Ruano and "Contemporary Historical Narrations" by Natalio Rivas. However, he focused on the organization of exhibitions, to which he would dedicate the next 50 years of his professional career. With the first of them, in the Sala Ibanez in Pamplona, in 1951, his attachment to his native land, Pamplona, was made clear, where he repeatedly exhibited several of his pictorial series ("Navarrese painting around the river", etc.). In addition to his land of origin, he exhibited in Barcelona, Valladolid, Vitoria, Madrid, Logrono, Alicante, Bilbao, Oviedo and Valencia. His work acquired an important renown, both on the part of the Academy and on the part of Spanish and international society, coming to exhibit at the The Embassy Gallery, Miami, USA in 1985, and collaborating with the Art-Lore INC of New York, USA. In 1983 he suffered an embolism that immobilized his right hand. Therefore, for the last decade of his life he produced his works with his left hand, demonstrating his mastery of painting technique, achieved in large part by his previous artisan work with looms. He died on September 6, 1992 in Madrid.
