AD 1 - 50 A Superb marble portrait of Gaius Caesar, probably of Parian marble, the youth depicted turning slightly to his left, the close-cropped hair carved in wavy locks around the forehead, with deep-set large eyes beneath slightly frowning brows. Mounted. Size: 345.5mm x 200mm; Weight: g. Private UK collection; Ex Christie's, London, 25 April 2007, lot 260. Acquired on the London art market in the 1970s, and thence by descent. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
