BIOGRAPHY:
Gherman Komlev was worn on October 11, 1933 in Sudislavl, Kostroma region. In 1947, after finishing seven grades of the Sudislav school, he entered the Kostroma Art School. He studied under Nikolai Pavlovich Shlein, the director of the school. He had to leave his studies after the second year, since the education was fee-based and the family did not have enough money for his studies. At the same time, in 1948-1949, German studied in the art studio at the Kostroma Palace of Pioneers (under Alexei Ivanovich Ryabikov, Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR). At the end of 1952, German Komlev was drafted into the Soviet Army and served in the Baltic Fleet, serving in the Studio of Military Sailors at the Sailors' Club in Leningrad. While serving in the military, in the spring of 1956 he married his fellow countrywoman Nina Sergeeva, who was living with her relative in Moscow. They had two sons, Vadim and Konstantin, born in 1957 and 1964. After being demobilized in 1956, he worked as an artist-designer at the club and earned extra money at newspapers. In 1959, Komlev began collaborating with Rostorgreklama, Vneshtorgreklama, and the Moscow Trade Advertising Plant, where he created posters, catalogs, brochures, labels, and other products. He continued working at advertising agencies until 1975. At the same time, in the mid-1960s, he began working in the genre of postcard miniatures, which became his work until the end of his life. The memory of the famous artist is preserved by the staff of the Sudislav Museum of Local History, where the archive of German Alekseevich is located - some of his works in the genre of posters and postcards, articles, documents and photographs.
