Details
Shaped oval, gadrooned rim with shells at intervals and shell-form handles, the border engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked on undersides 21 3⁄4 in. (55.2 cm.) long 86 oz. 4 dwt. (2,681 gr.) The arms are those of Richard York (1778-1843), of Wighall Park, Yorkshire, and his wife Mary Anne (1775-1831), the youngest daughter of Edward Lascelles (1740-1820), 1st Earl of Harewood, whom he married in 1801.

Lot Essay
Two matching meat dishes were sold at Sotheby's, New York, 28-29 October 1988, lot 208. All of these dishes match a composite dinner service with the same borders made for the Lascelles family 1735-1815, which was sold at Christie's, London, 30 June 1965, lots 42-57.
